Under the Per Cent for Art Scheme, dlr County Council’s Arts Office in collaboration with dlr County Council Parks Department commissioned new work through open call in line with dlr Public Art Policy 2018-2025.
Proposals were invited from artists or arts groups working in the medium of visual art, mural art, street or graffiti art, exterior wall painting, design, collaborative or community engaged practice; to consider the development of an outdoor temporary artistic intervention – painting the wall of the handball court in Rockfield park, Blackrock, Co. Dublin. This wall was the canvas upon which an artist was invited to paint. The commissioned work has a dual role – to bring colour and wonder to the park’s visitors and to bring a new experience of play for handball enthusiasts.
Muralist Decoy was selected for the commission with the piece ‘River Flora’ 2022.
